Born on the Hawaiian island of Maui to an American father and a Filipino mother. Growing up in Maui, he failed academically and instead chose to focus all of his energy on teaching himself how to code. After graduating from high school, he briefly attended Northern Arizona University. However, he dropped out of university to pursue a career as a software contractor for the United States government.
